KEEPIN’ IT REAL MINISTRIES

Chapin UMC partners with the Keepin’ It Real Ministries by serving a meal and providing P1000895an uplifting message to the homeless population at Finley Park the third Sunday in January, March, May, July, September and November. We serve approximately 150 people and help spread Good News to a community that needs to hear the message of hope, grace, mercy and unconditional love. Our church also provides the ministry with other needs like backpack drives, water drives, toiletries, blankets, bibles, meals for the Thanksgiving Bash and Christmas lunch, and many other needs that may arise during the year.

“Our family has been serving the homeless for about four years. It’s a ministry area that is near and dear to my heart. So many times throughout the bible, we are told to help the needy, poor, orphaned and widowed. But what have I done to help this group that the bible is referring to? Until I was involved in this ministry – I would say I did nothing. Zilch. I ignored God’s commands because I was judgmental and I thought that they were addicts just needing a fix. After reading the book “Same Kind of Different as Me” I felt the Lord speaking to me and encouraging me to get involved somehow. Friends invited us to participate one Sunday and I was hooked. Chapin UMC is a living example of Matthew 25 and I’m so blessed that my family and I have an opportunity to be a part of this ministry. Sally Tucker
