How do I choose a trip?
It could be a place you’ve always wanted to go. It could be a service project you’ve always wanted to be involved in. You could just feel a tug in your heart. There are many ways to select a trip. Pray, talk to a few people who have participated in the past, then go where you feel God leading you. Please don’t let the cost of a trip dissuade you. We have seen time and time again that if you follow your heart, God always provides.

What is the age requirement to participate on a short-term trip?
We allow children ages 10 and up to go on most trips. All minors must fill out an application to be considered for a trip.

By applying, am I committing to the trip? When am I officially committed?
No, you are not committing by submitting your application. You are committed once you give your deposit.

Where do I get the money to go on a trip?
Chapin UMC offers a one time $250.00 discount for your first mission trip. Additionally, your team leader will go over several fund-raising ideas to help raise money for the trip.

How do I donate to someone’s trip?
The simplest way is to write a check to Chapin UMC with the trip and individuals name listed on the check. Put in an envelope marked Missions and drop in offering plate during service or in the drop box at the office.

What if I don’t have a passport?
Apply now for a passport if you don’t have one. http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english.html
After you receive your new passport number, update your application with that information. You will also need to make a copy of your passport application and/or passport and give it to your team leader at the first team meeting. As per new rules for international airline travel, we are required to obtain and send the expiration date of your passport for booking travel, so we will need that information as soon as possible. If your passport expires less than six months after your departure date, you will need to renew your passport as soon as possible. Additionally, if you have a non-U.S. passport, you are responsible for finding out if a visa is required for you to travel to a specific country.

Do I have to be a church member of Chapin United Methodist Church?
You do not have to be a church member to apply for a trip. However, trip participants meet regularly for planning purposes and team bonding, so we ask that you be active participant throughout the entire process.

Can I use airline points to cover my plane ticket?
In most cases, yes. Please consult your individual trip leader for more information.

Can I travel to another destination or stay longer at my destination?
