“Saved to Serve”

The Missionaries and Mission Organizations have RSVP’d…check.

Our Guest Speaker for the weekend (Todd Phillips) has his topics for the weekend…check.

Our amazing GIC Team has organized the events and set the stage for an incredible time…check.

And our prayer is that YOU will make this years Global Impact Celebration a priority with your time, your resources, and your prayers…(check?)

September 28th through October 1st will be a weekend unlike any other.  Missionaries from as far away as Kenya and as close as downtown Chapin will descend upon Chapin UMC for a weekend of biblical challenge, personal inspiration, and some good old fashioned fun.  For those of us who call Chapin UMC their church home, we take part in each year’s GIC and it is easy to take that time for granted.  Same old thing each year every year, right?  Not quite.

This year we will challenge our church family to participate in  the “Impact Poverty Challenge (click here for more information).  This one week challenge to step into the “shoes” of a person living in a third world nation will prepare our hearts and set the tone for the following weekend.

There will be a great time of worship on Friday night…a ladies tea on Saturday morning…a men’s lunch on Saturday afternoon…and a special time of worship on Saturday night.  All of this surrounding our many missionaries and partners who serve so faithfully on the mission field.  Check our weekend schedule here.

Bottom line is this:  At CUMC, we take the Great Commission seriously.  Jesus directed it, therefore we are going pursue it with passion and energy.  GIC Weekend simply allows us to fully engage our senses in this Great Commission.  And we get to do that with the folks who are in field living it out in ways that we are not able to.  Join us September 28-October 1, and be prepared to have your heart changed!
